Billboard, 2010 design

This piece uses the form of a billboard display without the billboard message. Size will be dependent on the exhibition space while construction will be of fine hardwood with a quality oil finish. The display lights will be functional and will cast shadows through the structure onto the walls and ceilings behind it.

The cubic grid structure of the billboard panel is meant to invoke the work of Sol Lewitt.

The billboard piece is intended to be experienced in the space with the lights casting the form onto its walls. The fact that the lights shine through the structure rather than being reflected off a message could be extended into metaphor.

Please note that these renderings are preliminary and the finished piece will certainly have differences in construction. The specific species of wood has yet to be determined and there will probably be fewer lights.
